Fernando José da Silva Freitas Meira (1978-06-05)Meira was born in June 5th 1978, in Guimarães. In the city Club he started playing professionally. After the first season 1998-99, he went to play in FC Felgueiras where he improved and soon returned to Vitória FC. In the year 2000 SL Benfica signed with F. Meira and here he stayed playing almost 50 league matches. The good exhibitions alerted foreign attentions and VFB Stuttgart contracted him in 2002. I will not talk about our strategy because than I would be probably giving some cards to our opponents. The most important thing now, is that we need to have a clear idea of what is needed to be done, during the game. We will need to have the ball on our side to have the control of the game I think you’ll see a different Benfica.”
Meira told the Press:
“This will be a special game to me. I’ll feel good entering that stadium again. The game won’t be easy for us, Benfica is a great team, but we will try to keep at least one point.”
